Home Cage - Locomotor Activity
Features
RequiresOverviewThe Home Cage Activity System has a comprehensive collection of tools for monitoring the locomotor activity of rodents (both large and small) in identical regulated home cage environment.
The Activity MonitorEach cage frame houses a pair of sensor panels with a set of 16 light beams in a linear horizontal orientation. When a rodent intersects the light beams, the hardware detects these beams so that the software can determine the location of the rodent along the X axis of the cage. Additionally, each sensor panel contains two buttons. These buttons may be used to start and stop experiments for individual rodents when the researcher is not in proximity to the PC.
A second set of sensor panels (16 beams) can be used to monitor rearing activity of the animals. Multi Animal FunctionThe Home cage frame measures 18.5" L x 14.5" W x 8" H and accommodates one standard rat home cage or two standard mouse home cages (11.5" L x 7.375" W x 5" H ).
Variable ListThe Home Cage System Variables include Ambulatory Activity Count, Movement Count, Movement Time, Stereotypy Activity Count, Stereotypy Episode Count, etc.
The SoftwareThe heart of the Home Cage locomotor system is the Fusion Software. A wide variety of experiments can be designed and run with ease. It is capable of recording and time stamping every cage event, and can be used to run multi-animal, multi-day experiments.
Once the experiment data is recorded, it can be archived and reanalyzed as many times as needed. In addition, as improvements and additions to the software become available, archived data can be reanalyzed using the new features. Because of the cutting edge security and reliability features in this system the user can be confident that the data is authentic and accurate. |
